Brian Armstrong gave Coinbase engineers one week to adopt Cursor and Copilot — those who hadn't got a Saturday meeting, and some were let go. He admitted on a podcast it was heavy-handed, and did it anyway.

Meanwhile, MIT Media Lab researchers put EEG caps on 54 people writing essays: 15 of 18 ChatGPT users couldn't quote a single line from what they'd just written, versus 2 of 18 in the no-tools group.

The author's take: both stories are true. Your company will make you use AI, and the 'can't recall what you wrote' problem will follow you into your work. He references podcast guests who found a middle path.
