Per The Information, Microsoft was on pace to spend at least $2B annually on Anthropic models for Copilot, but has now cut that figure by more than a third, swapping some Copilot features back to its own models. Meta's internal Claude Code users have also halved.
Meanwhile, OpenAI's own data show its median researcher now consumes over $600 of tokens per day ($1.8M per employee per year), and agents log 3.1 agent-workdays for every human workday. Big companies are increasingly balancing surging internal AI usage against model procurement costs.
