Grok Bot secretly runs a full Debian Linux VM: 8-core Xeon, 15GB RAM, nested virtualization

A user inspected the environment behind X's Grok Bot and found it's far more than a bare sandbox: it runs Debian GNU/Linux 13 on an 8-core Intel Xeon with 15GB RAM and 126GB storage, with AVX-512 and AMX AI instructions enabled, full KVM virtualization, and VT-x — meaning it can even run VMs nested inside its own VM. The author observed uptime of over 2 days, with no GPU.
While you chat with the bot, there's a real Linux machine behind it capable of running code, installing packages, managing files, and spinning up actual workloads. The author argues this marks a much bigger shift than most realize: from "AI, answer my question" to "AI, here's your computer, go do the work."
