zeeg: labs' leverage over harnesses won't last forever
zeeg · x · 2026-10-06
Developer zeeg pushes back in the harness debate: you're living in a bubble — a whole world exists beyond the constraints you've manufactured. The Codex harness provides very little actual functionality, as do most coding harnesses, and they'll be superseded by more capable specialized ones; even scoped to coding, Codex lags purpose-built competitors.
His core point: labs can dictate terms today thanks to model advantages, but don't believe that lasts. The mindset that we should be thankful for limited capabilities and let a few companies decide what we can do with technology has never worked before, and nothing makes this tech more defensible.
