A2A Protocol ships official CLI to discover, message and manage agents from the terminal
rseroter · x · 2026-10-06
- The A2A project released an official command-line client, a2a (built on the Go SDK, speaking A2A Protocol v1.0), closing two gaps: non-agent actors (shell scripts, CI jobs, tests, humans) previously had no easy way to discover an agent's capabilities and hand off tasks, and community CLIs across languages had drifted apart in commands, flags, and output.
- Three intended uses:
- Empower coding agents: give your coding assistant the a2a tool so it can offload work to specialized remote A2A agents without bespoke integration code;
- Instant terminal interaction: fetch an agent card, send messages, and stream real-time task updates;
- Workflow automation: protocol-native JSON output and predictable exit codes make it easy to drop into pipelines.
- rseroter recommends wiring it into your coding workflow or harness.
