Replit CEO: AI doomerism misses the real question — who's accountable when agents go rogue
amasad · x · 2026-10-06
Replit co-founder and CEO Amjad Masad joined The Times' Times Tech podcast (32 min). He discussed vibe coding letting non-coders build software, and argued we've lost the original joy of computing, leaving everyday users at the mercy of Silicon Valley giants.
He pushed back on AI doomerism, saying apocalyptic fears are overblown and focus should shift to real-world accountability: if AI agents act on our behalf, who is responsible when they go too far? He called for strict penalties for companies whose agents go rogue.
