When AI agents shop and browse for you, who sees the ads?
NickPassig · x · 2026-10-06
The author draws an analogy to early in-game dynamic advertising: people once imagined virtual billboards in racing games, and game monetization did eventually happen, just in a twisted form. Now the same question applies to AI agents — when they research, pay via x402 for content, play games or shop on your behalf, who is the advertising audience? Possibilities: ads disappear (no), agents ignore all ads (maybe), or a new ad experience emerges where agents store memories of ads they've seen — possibly the unlock for free AI agents.
