Researcher: math community's AI-code panic ignores millions of low-quality artifacts in every field
RexDouglass · x · 2026-10-06
Responding to math community worries about AI-generated low-quality code, RexDouglass argues GitHub already hosts millions of contributions of varying quality and the globe has self-organized to benefit from it, so math can adapt without "existential collapse." He adds that every field is full of millions of usually low-quality artifacts, and treating this as a novel problem is oddly at odds with 30 years of metascience — a whole field of survivorship bias.
