Anthropic ships Claude Code mods: TypeScript functions that rewrite prompts and UI
thione · x · 2026-10-06
Anthropic introduced mods for Claude Code: small TypeScript functions that can rewrite prompts, add new UI, replace built-in features, or add entirely new functionality. Mods ship inside plugins, work in both the CLI and desktop app, and are built on an event system where mods can intercept and rewrite events — going beyond hooks, which can only react.
- Security caveat: mods run with the same machine access as Claude Code itself and are not sandboxed — only install from trusted sources.
- Also in the post: OpenAI launched Codex Security Cloud, enabling scheduled full-repository GitHub scans that investigate, deduplicate, and prepare fixes in the cloud.
