Vinod Khosla: Sam Altman admitted nobody tells him where he's screwing up
gharik · x · 2026-10-06
Vinod Khosla revealed that during a dinner conversation he told Sam Altman his hardest problem is that nobody will brutally tell him where he's going wrong — and Altman agreed. Khosla suggested he invite Margaret Heffernan, author and TED speaker on constructive disagreement, to address OpenAI's senior team.
The thread extends to a broader pattern: investors today rarely push back because they're fighting to get into hot deals and don't want to seem argumentative. But smart founders need people who tell them the truth — even if they sometimes disagree, the willingness to speak up is immensely valuable.
