Open-source Observer app runs local LLMs in your browser to monitor your screen
Roy3838 · reddit · 2026-10-06
Developer Roy3838 shipped a major update to Observer, an open-source app that lets local LLMs watch your screen and send notifications.
- No-install web app: type an instruction like "send me a telegram when my Steam game finishes downloading, use a local model" and the agent downloads the model (e.g. Qwen3.5-0.8B via transformers.js) in the browser and starts monitoring in 10 seconds; the web version doesn't work on Linux or older PCs
- The desktop app uses llama.cpp on Rust for full performance and better stability; custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints are also supported
- Fully open source (github.com/Roy3838/Observer) with a Discord community
