Gemini 12-month student offer vanishes after passing SheerID verification, user reports
nomlit · reddit · 2026-10-06
A Reddit user reports an issue with the Google One / Gemini 12-month student promotion:
- Completed SheerID verification through the official student link and was approved;
- Age verified on the Google account, valid card on the payments profile, not in a Family Group, logged out of all other accounts;
- Yet the activation link only shows regular pricing or does nothing — the system behaves as if the promo was already used, while the account remains on the free tier.
The user has contacted Google One support and asks whether others have hit this "offer vanishes after successful SheerID" bug and if there are workarounds, or if waiting for a manual fix is the only option.
