OpenAI rolls out invisible text watermarks for ChatGPT and Codex, starting with the EU
XFreeze · x · 2026-10-06
OpenAI says its models will now embed invisible watermarks in ChatGPT and Codex outputs. Text watermarking won't be a global default at launch — instead a phased approach starting with the EU, which the company says 'gives us room to learn.' Meanwhile, API customers worldwide can opt in starting today, and OpenAI expects to revisit each part of the approach as technology and standards evolve.
