Computer use is the next agent battleground, and Codex Desktop + Astra leads the pack
Yuchenj_UW · x · 2026-10-06
Yuchen Jin argues computer use will be the next major battleground for AI agents. The ideal world is API-first, but reality isn't: many tools (Amazon checkout, tax filing, legacy enterprise software) have no useful API, and existing APIs are often slow, incomplete, and rate-limited — Slack being a prime example. GUIs, by contrast, are the one universal interface nearly all software already exposes. After hands-on testing, he calls Codex Desktop + Astra the best computer-use agent he's tried, saying it's the first time computer use has felt genuinely imminent.
