The 2026 Nobel Prize in Medicine went to three scientists studying how the brain switches individual nerve cells on and off. Asked whether the winning brain research could explain what happens inside AI neural networks, the Nobel panel replied: "Probably the similarities between the neural networks used in AI and the human brain shouldn't be exaggerated" — a notable reality check on the 'AI works like the brain' narrative.
