Per LinkedIn estimates, US AI-linked roles have grown by over 750,000 since 2023 — led by data annotators, AI's lowest-paid job: about 282K new positions with a median listed pay around $51K, below the non-AI median.
Other major gains: 117K data center jobs and 105K AI engineers, together supplying 504K of the total; plus 29K heads of AI and 15K forward-deployed engineers who embed with customers to turn vague AI ambitions into working software.
Overall AI-related roles show a LinkedIn median salary of $180K versus $80K across all jobs, with data center buildout a key driver of labor demand.
