AI researcher Yoav Goldberg (yoavgo) debated with @ShirPeled over when the "current AI era" actually began. By his definition, it started with the GPT-3 paper, and if one person must be singled out, it's Alec Radford. He concedes AlphaGo — and later BERT — were turning points, but argues OpenAI would never have been founded without AlphaGo, tracing the LLM era back to that earlier breakthrough.
