DeepSeek engineer argues CUDA isn't NVIDIA's moat as team builds Ascend infrastructure
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-10-05
A DeepSeek employee, Xu Ruifan, shared thoughts on developing Ascend infrastructure components: CUDA is not really NVIDIA's moat. Engineers fluent in CUDA can move to Ascend C without much trouble, and once enough people use it, co-iterated hardware and software give latecomers a real chance to catch up. He adds that DeepSeek looks forward to progressing together with domestic chips.
