Proton Pass adds AI access tokens: scoped credentials for agents, with reasons logged every use
uwukko · x · 2026-10-05
Proton upgraded its password manager Proton Pass for the AI agent era with credential sharing via AI access tokens:
- Scoped access: users can issue tokens granting agents only the credentials they need; every credential request must include a reason, so activity stays auditable.
- Pricing: tokens are included at no extra cost in Pass Plus (in Proton Unlimited), Pass Family, Pass Professional, and Proton Workspace.
- Context: citing McKinsey, Proton notes 62% of companies experiment with AI agents but only 23% scale them, partly because apps are built for humans, not agents operating via APIs.
