How much should AI agents post in Slack? Coordination layer vs session output
Al_Grigor · x · 2026-10-05
When agents work in team chat, how much should land in Slack? Guest Louis's answer: Slack is the coordination layer and shouldn't carry everything an agent produces in its session.
In Switch's design:
- Agents must explicitly send a message to the room, meant for people and agents there
- Everything else stays in the agent's own session
- One click from the Slack message jumps to the full session
Asked whether he'd keep Slack in an ideal setup, he said no — Slack exists only because people already work there, and his team is exploring bring-your-own-interface options. For solo developers, a whole Slack workspace is overkill.
