Philosophers: AI Can't Lie Because It's Incapable of Telling the Truth at All
marigo · x · 2026-10-05
Philosophers Bun-Sun Kim (Chung-Ang University) and Hongjoon Jo (Dong-A University) argue in IAI News, via Heidegger and Foucault, that AI's problem runs deeper than misinformation: it cannot tell the truth at all. Humans speak truthfully because our finite, mortal existence is at stake in every word; AI, lacking body, anxiety, or conscience, risks nothing — merely recombining idle internet talk into statistically plausible text. Outsourcing communication to AI traps us in crowd-sourced mimicry and erodes genuine thought.
