ChatGPT fixed a PC two paid technicians couldn't, one screenshot at a time

A non-technical Redditor whose self-built PC had crashed for years — and stumped two paid technicians — finally fixed it over a weekend by troubleshooting step by step with ChatGPT, sending screenshots and following concrete instructions.
The key sequence: MemTest86 run per stick and per slot revealed thousands of memory errors only when both sticks were installed together; a BIOS update, guided screenshot by screenshot, brought errors to zero. ChatGPT then diagnosed a drive Windows couldn't see as a missing storage driver (cables were fine), restoring it.
The author's takeaway: he needed no prior knowledge of BIOS, drivers, or crash codes — just images and one next step at a time — and says he'll never pay a technician again.
