Ship launches as an Autonomous QA Engineer that tests PRs and reproduces bugs for coding agents
eptwts · x · 2026-10-05
ContextQA launched Ship, an 'Autonomous Quality Engineer' targeting the gap between ubiquitous coding agents and scarce QA engineers.
Key capabilities:
- Change testing: plugs into existing workflows, maps each PR's blast radius, runs targeted regression tests before merge, and flags defects.
- Bug investigation: ingests reports from Linear, Jira, Slack or help desks, reproduces bugs automatically, captures evidence, and performs root cause analysis.
- Handoff to agents: packages repro steps, traces and suggested fixes for Claude or Codex to implement.
A demo shows Ship running 148 tests after a deploy, catching 2 defects in a PR, and reproducing a checkout bug after session expiry down to the exact file and line. A 15-day free trial is available.
