Axios reports that Nvidia-backed Reflection is preparing to release its first open-weight model, aiming to compete with China's leading open models. Sources expect it to initially trail the most advanced US models.
The commercial play is letting companies build customized AI systems on their own data and compute with lower costs and more control. Reflection has already announced a sovereign AI factory partnership with South Korea's Shinsegae Group, plus major deals with Nebius and SpaceX to rent Nvidia servers.
