Use Magpie CLI to check quotas and route sub-agents by urgency to save tokens
lxfater · x · 2026-10-05
The author shares a workflow for automatically scheduling sub-agents to save tokens: first have the orchestrator agent query remaining quota and reset times for each model via @yetone's Magpie CLI, then dispatch tasks by importance/urgency — important and urgent goes to the fastest model that can finish it; important but not urgent can wait for a quota reset; unimportant but urgent uses cheap tokens to finish fast; unimportant and not urgent prefers lower-cost options or even local models running slowly. The orchestrator then picks among these options. The author recommends Magpie (GitHub yetone/magpie, 5k stars), which from the menu bar routes Codex to DeepSeek, Claude Code to Kimi, and more.
