SEA compute buildout: GPUs arrive faster than data centers, land and power are the bottleneck
vincent_koc · x · 2026-10-05
At the Compute & Caviar event in Singapore, practitioners noted a striking contrast: in San Francisco the constraint is compute allocation, while in Southeast Asia GPUs are arriving faster than sites can be built. The gathering brought together chip vendors (Cerebras, SambaNova, AMD), clouds (AWS, Databricks, Firmus, GMI), data center operators (STT GDC, TM Nxera), and capital (EDBI, SemiAnalysis, Temasek). What SEA lacks isn't chips but trusted access to land and power, plus an operator layer connecting compute to frontier AI companies in SF.
