Matt Pocock adds /retro to his core workflow: audit agent sessions to fix your repo
mattpocockuk · x · 2026-10-05
Matt Pocock introduced his /retro skill, saying it's important enough to sit in his Main Flow. Key points:
- What it does: /retro reviews a coding session's logs, finds moments where the agent struggled (20 tool calls to locate a file, a bug no tool caught), and ranks candidate fixes by severity.
- Changes the environment, not the code: it asks what in the repo let problems happen and proposes checks, pointers, or standards — only proposing until you pick one.
- When to use: at the end of a harder-than-expected session; smooth sessions have little to teach. Use /code-review for judging the code itself.
- Install: npx skills@latest add mattpocock/skills --skill=retro, then type /retro in your coding agent.
