OpenAI promises 28 straight days of Codex updates — and users aren't buying it
APPSO · wechat · 2026-10-05
OpenAI product lead Tibo announced that for 28 straight days, the company will ship a genuinely useful Codex/Work improvement or reset usage credits daily, targeting four directions: simplification, efficiency, breakthrough features, and new models (can GPT-6.1 Astra turn things around?).
But unlike past resets, users aren't celebrating. When Tibo asked what to add to Codex, a top-voted answer was simply "Opus 5.5." Critics joke that reset is his answer to everything — "service down: reset, dumb model: reset, slow: reset — he never solves problems, he solves us." Others say OpenAI is doing too much at once, leaving even core ChatGPT chat without a fresh model for months.
The piece argues restoring capacity after failures is compensation, not a gift: resets are easy, but using OpenAI products keeps getting more complicated — and paying users owe no gratitude for fixes to problems that shouldn't exist.
