Wayfarer evaluated on hardest Atari set, with component-wise ablations
MarlosCMachado · x · 2026-10-05
Continuing the Wayfarer thread, Marlos Machado notes results come from a challenging set of Atari 2600 games where progress has historically been slow due to difficult exploration and credit assignment. The team also characterized each component's contribution (ablations). The options Wayfarer discovers generalize across settings — e.g., in Montezuma's Revenge, an option of walking across the tiled floor and going down stairs works even in rooms never seen before.
