Looking forward to Elena Glassman's keynote at SPLASH/ISSTA 2026 (Oct 4-9, Oakland): "In the Age of AI Coding Agents, Keeping the Engineer in Software Engineering."
The poster's take: humans still hold a valuable role in the AI code-synthesis loop — as "sentient bags of mostly water" supplying the essential inductive variant, i.e. humans anchor verification and inductive reasoning over generated code. The talk tackles how engineering roles should evolve as AI coding agents spread.
