ML author Andriy Burkov argues that for 95% of chatbot users, the product is just a search engine followed by a copyright-violation step where an LLM paraphrases found documents — no frontier model required. Hence Google's AI Mode model feels "so last year" to frontier-LLM users, and most people will never pay to know the difference.
