xAI retires grok-voice-transcribe-1.0, silently reroutes requests to 2.0 at same price
tetsuoai · x · 2026-10-05
xAI has ended support for grok-voice-transcribe-1.0 on its API: all requests to that model slug are now routed to grok-voice-transcribe-2.0 at unchanged pricing. The company says 2.0 offers higher accuracy and was already the default for speech-to-text, which costs $0.10/hour over REST and $0.20/hour streaming. Anything still pinned to 1.0 is effectively running on 2.0.
