dhh's agent-built Campfire benchmarks in Go and Rust questioned over flawed implementation
kristoph · x · 2026-10-05
dhh had agents implement and optimize the Campfire web app in Elixir, Go, and Rust, finding Ruby slowest but valuing productivity and developer joy. kristoph pushes back, saying the Go implementation has obvious flaws that would dramatically improve the numbers, casting doubt on the benchmark. Campfire is basecamp's open-source single-machine group chat app (MIT, 4.7k stars).
