ComfyUI watermark-removal workflow fixes silent VAE resize inpainting misalignment
TekaiGuy · reddit · 2026-10-05
- The author released an open-source What-Are-Marks workflow (GitHub + Civitai) for removing watermarks and upscaling images to build LoRA training datasets.
- Key pitfall: ComfyUI's VAE encoder requires both image edges divisible by 16; non-compliant sizes are silently resized, inpainted, then cropped back—cropping isn't the inverse of resizing, causing misalignment with zero warning.
- The workflow manually reverses the resize for both inpainting and outpainting: parallel mask/image resizing, pixel-padding calculations under the 16-pixel rule, and extension-direction tweaks to avoid touching the mask.
- Built leveraging ComfyUI's newly supported subgraphs.
