Dev builds ask/act terminal commands on Codex CLI so anyone can speak English to Bash
sytelus · x · 2026-10-05
Developer sytelus released a pair of terminal shortcuts, ask and act, that let you type what you want in plain English and have Codex CLI translate it into executed shell commands.
- Works in Bash/Zsh and PowerShell, assuming Codex CLI is installed; leverages a ChatGPT subscription
- Author says the key improvement over prior attempts is proper quote/escaping handling
- Install: copy the script to /.config/ and source it from .bashrc/.zshrc (or PowerShell profile)
- Distributed as an open-source GitHub Gist
