Claude Max user says model got nerfed, hunts for open source alternatives at $100/month
mythormedicine · reddit · 2026-10-05
A Claude Max 5x subscriber complains that Claude has been heavily nerfed recently, saying Opus 5.5 initially felt like a lifelong model but recent days have been extremely frustrating.
The author's favorite models are MiMo, DeepSeek and GLM, but alternatives fall short: Ollama Cloud lacks MiMo 2.6 and the DeepSeek API is too expensive. The current best option seems to be subscribing to both MiMo and GLM plans. With a $50-100/month budget, they're asking the community for other suggestions.
