Investor Stewart Alsop slams Anthropic for 80 pages of existential-risk disclosure in its S-1
StewartalsopIII · x · 2026-10-05
Investor Stewart Alsop III devoted an episode of his podcast to criticizing Anthropic's S-1 filing for spending roughly 80 pages enumerating existential risks, something he says has never happened before.
He argues that risk disclosures in stock offerings have historically covered only practical risks to shield companies from lawsuits, and dismisses Anthropic's approach as a "sophisticated grift" of the sophist variety — distinct from the "more practical grifters" like Altman and Zuckerberg.
Note this is a strongly opinionated take rather than neutral reporting, but it touches on an unusual and real aspect of Anthropic's IPO paperwork.
