WITCHCRAFT: open-source WoW addon puts Claude Code and Codex terminals inside the game
hi_im_leffe · reddit · 2026-10-05
A developer released WITCHCRAFT, a free open-source addon for WoW Forever that embeds Claude Code and Codex terminals inside World of Warcraft, with one tab per assistant for prompts, replies, and permission approvals — no more alt-tabbing.
The hard part: WoW addons can't touch the network or read files. A small Windows companion runs the CLIs and writes their output into addon files the game loads; player input exits via a keybinding saved to disk, with a pixel-strip read off screen as backup. There's also a WoW-to-Claude MCP bridge letting Claude pull character info, quests, and recorded Lua errors — the demo shows Claude fixing another addon's Lua error from inside the game. Built as a team effort with Claude Code writing most code and Codex reviewing. Requires Windows and your own Claude Code/Codex setup. GitHub: Geraldlol/witchcraft
