YC-backed inference provider accused of swapping models: its 'GLM-5.3-Flash' endpoint self-IDs as GLM-4.6
NiceAd358 · reddit · 2026-10-05
A Reddit user found a suspicious discrepancy with Experiential Labs, a YC-backed inference provider advertising a "GLM-5.3-Flash" route. Sending the same model-identification prompt to both, Z.ai's official endpoint confirmed it was GLM-5.3-Flash, while Experiential's endpoint self-reported as GLM-4.6 (screenshots included).
The user's post asking for an explanation in the company's subreddit was removed by moderators. While model self-identification doesn't prove what weights are actually served, the author calls it a serious red flag for an inference provider and asks for reproducible fingerprinting/API-level tests to verify the endpoint independently.
