Claude Opus 5.5 translates full retro games in ~4 hours using 7% of the $100 weekly limit

A Reddit user shows how Claude Opus 5.5 can produce complete, playable translations of retro games in about 4 hours each, at only 7% of the $100 plan's weekly limit:
- Example 1: Crazy Tycoon (Feng Kuang Da Fu Weng) for GBC, a Momotaro Dentetsu clone — finished a 5-year in-game run on original hardware with no major bugs; patcher artifact and repo are public
- Example 2: New Investiture of the Gods (Xin Feng Shen Bang), a Taiwanese GBC RPG, playable several towns in
- Example 3 (WIP): 伏魔记, a 2004 BBK e-dictionary RPG — the kind of game that would never get a fan translation otherwise
The key tool is a SameBoy-derived CLI emulator (gbemu-cn) set up for agent use, letting the model run a translate-and-test loop. After five successful runs the author reports consistently solid results with variable-width fonts — not fan-translation quality, but cheap, repeatable, and applicable to literally any game with a decent emulator.
