China shipped 97% of the world's humanoid robots in H1 2026 — the race is a data flywheel

The humanoid race isn't about viral robot dance videos. China accounted for over 97% of global humanoid robot shipments in the first half of 2026.
The argument: physical AI improves through real-world interaction — more deployed robots means more environments, edge cases, failures, and behavioral data, i.e. faster learning cycles. The US still leads in AI models, capital, and compute infrastructure, but China's manufacturing scale could convert into a data advantage.
Bottom line: software AI was trained on the internet; physical AI will be trained on reality. The real race is who can field enough intelligent machines to build the strongest learning flywheel.
