Today marks 15 years since Siri shipped with the iPhone 4s. The author joined Apple in 2014 and worked on Siri for six years.
He went through technology shifts, leadership changes and role changes, was even picked for a very small, secretive 15-person project, was granted a patent for a new architecture, and by 2018 had it running fully offline. He then decided to move on and try something new.
