PM's six-step order for learning AI tools: know the model before building agents
aakashgupta · x · 2026-10-04
A product manager lays out the stable six-step order underneath the monthly churn of "must-learn" AI tools:
- Understand the model: it predicts plausible text, so fake facts come out sounding confident;
- Feed it context: hallucinations are context failures long before they're model failures;
- Run agents on your own work: one folder per area, one skill per task, connect only daily-use tools;
- Put an agent in a product: start from a template on a canvas where you can see what broke;
- Prove it works: hand-label 100 real traces before trusting any score;
- Decide what's worth building: AI gross margins run 20-60% vs 70-90% for SaaS — know your cost per user before pricing.
Swap tools as often as you like; keep the order.
