Runway unveils open-weight Praxis-1, a World Action Model bringing video pretraining to real robot control
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-10-04
- Following GWM-1 (December 2025), Runway released Praxis-1, an open-weight World Action Model for robots.
- GWM-1 predicted how the world changes in response to robot actions, enabling simulation, policy evaluation, and synthetic data. Praxis-1 turns that world understanding into actions for real robots.
- Approach: pretrain on large-scale video, then align with robot data to produce control policies across different embodiments. The bet: demonstration data is scarce, video is infinite — the best policy models will learn from video.
- Being tested with early partners including Noble Machines, Standard Bots, and Ultra; weights will be released.
