A Google DeepMind team including Demis Hassabis, Arnaud Doucet, Valentin De Bortoli, and Pushmeet Kohli published an open-access Nature paper, "Function-preserving watermarking of AI-generated proteins." As generative models like AlphaFold 3 accelerate protein design, tracking the provenance of AI-generated protein sequences and structures is increasingly important; the paper proposes watermarking AI-designed proteins without compromising their function.
