HPE Posts Record $12.2B Revenue, Up 34% YoY, as AI FOMO Drives Hardware Boom

HPE reported record Q3 FY2026 revenue of $12.2 billion, up 34% year over year, with strong EPS and raised full-year guidance. Cloud & AI is now a major growth engine, and the Juniper acquisition has strengthened its networking story.
The author expects the tailwind to last roughly two more years: enterprises and cloud providers are stocking up on hardware, networking, and capacity out of real AI FOMO — the same wave Dell and Nvidia are riding.
But he warns the wave will break:
- Hardware cycles are unforgiving: demand shifts, margins compress, inventories build, and customers pause spending once they feel they have enough capacity;
- Strong demand masks structural issues, and HPE still has leadership challenges;
- Smart boards should use this period to pressure-test the operating model and prepare for normalized AI infrastructure demand.
Bottom line: don't confuse a demand surge with a permanent business model advantage.
