NYU researchers unveiled eFlesh, a low-cost open-source magnetic tactile sensor for robotics. Built with a hobbyist 3D printer, under $5 of off-the-shelf magnets, a CAD model and a magnetometer board, it measures contact forces via magnet displacement and ships with a tool converting OBJ/STL files into printable sensor parts — democratizing tactile sensing for robots in unstructured environments.
