Agent memory is the hidden bottleneck: context management matters as much as reasoning
alifcoder · x · 2026-10-04
AI agents keep getting smarter, but a subtler problem lurks underneath: memory.
The longer an agent works, the more context it accumulates — files, tool calls, prior messages, reasoning histories, and intermediate results all need to stay accessible. The author argues that eventually, moving that information around efficiently will matter as much as the model doing the reasoning itself — a core engineering challenge for anyone building with AI.
