Google launches prototype satellite carrying 4 TPUs to test AI compute in space

Google has launched a prototype satellite carrying four TPU chips via SpaceX's Transporter-18 rideshare mission, to test how the chips perform in space and explore deploying AI infrastructure in orbit. Google says the team has established communication and the satellite is operating normally.
Also in the roundup: Sugon and Xi'an Jiaotong University completed a record-setting large-scale supersonic rocket plume simulation; TSMC is reportedly exploring cooperation with Musk's Terafab fab; SpaceX pulled off three Falcon launches in under 13 hours; and Samsung Display plans to start AMOLED panel production for the Galaxy S27 lineup this month, targeting 47-48 million units.
