Justin Lin slams Hugging Face daily papers for upvote manipulation: "papers bought upvotes like GitHub stars"
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-10-04
Justin Lin (JustinLin610) criticized vote manipulation on Hugging Face's daily papers leaderboard: many highly upvoted papers have no real discussion, and some authors ask friends for upvotes or simply buy them, since clicking costs nothing — much like inflated GitHub stars. He says the issue isn't the product itself but why papers ranking above often seem no better or even worse, urging the platform to improve the mechanism.
Researcher teortaxesTex, sharing the post, remarked on the pettiness of such competitions and said he's sad the daily papers feed he relies on is deteriorating.
